At Thrive Together Mental Wellness Centres, we recognize the profound impact that past trauma can have on your mental health and overall well-being.
Whether rooted in early childhood experiences or other traumatic events throughout your life, trauma can leave lasting effects, including symptoms of PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) or cPTSD (complex PTSD).
Our goal is to help you overcome these challenges and build a life where you can truly thrive.
What is PTSD and Complex PTSD (cPTSD)?
PTSD and cPTSD are mental health conditions that can develop after experiencing or witnessing traumatic events. These conditions are often linked to early childhood experiences or significant life events, such as abuse, neglect, violence, or loss.
Common Symptoms of PTSD and cPTSD Include:
- Flashbacks or intrusive memories of the traumatic event.
- Emotional numbness or feeling detached from others.
- Hypervigilance or being easily startled.
- Difficulty concentrating or sleeping.
- Persistent feelings of shame, guilt, or low self-worth.
- Difficulty regulating emotions or maintaining healthy relationships.
PTSD can also serve as a unifying diagnosis, helping individuals better understand other struggles, such as treatment-resistant depression or anxiety symptoms.
Recognizing and addressing trauma can be a transformative step toward healing and growth.

Our Comprehensive Trauma Care Pathway
We offer a comprehensive treatment program. Some services, such as psychiatry consultation, require a physician or nurse practitioner referral in order for it to be covered by OHIP. Many of the services included in this care pathway, such as psychotherapy, are not currently covered by OHIP but may be covered by private insurance benefits.
Referral Process:
We require a referral from a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician who can provide ongoing care. This ensures a seamless transition and continuity of care after your consultation.
Once we receive your referral, our care concierge team will contact you to gather background information and guide you on next steps.

Wrapping Up Therapy
1. Discovery Call: Meet with a member of our care concierge team to review your needs and gather additional information.
2. Psychology and/or Psychiatric Consultation: A psychologist and/or psychiatrist with experience supporting patients with PTSD will review your history and provide a mental health assessment. If PTSD is diagnosed, we can make recommendations for medication management and psychotherapy. Assessments with the clinical psychologist are generally over 1-3 appointments in order to better understand your needs and place your struggles in the context of your lived experiences. The psychologist will make therapy recommendations. Psychology assessments are not OHIP covered and available as private pay but may be covered by private or other benefits.
3. Care Coordination Conference: With your consent, your care team will meet to collaborate on how we can best support and optimize your treatment plan.
4. Feedback and Treatment Matching: Meet with a care concierge to review your assessment experience and discuss treatment options. They will match you with clinicians based on your goals and care plan.
5. Care Plan & Treatment: Work one-on-one with a therapist or team of clinicians. We can provide a tailored package that includes:
- Individual, couple, or family therapy.
- Occupational therapy.
- Mental health nursing care.
- Medication optimization with a Psychiatrist or Nurse Practitioner. Time-limited medication optimization with a consulting psychiatrist is available.
6. On-going Care Coordination Conferences: With your consent, your care team will meet periodically to collaborate on how we can best support and optimize your treatment plan.
7. Wrapping Up Therapy and Messages of Hope
Therapy is a transformative experience that culminates in achieving your wellness goals. While some may benefit from long-term therapy, others find that short-term therapy meets their needs. As you prepare to wrap up your therapy journey, we encourage you to:
- Identify personal strategies to maintain your wellness.
- Leave a message of hope on the tree in our waiting room, inspiring others on their path to mental wellness.
- Consider additional booster or maintenance therapy sessions to stay on track and continue thriving.
